actually BB the badges can indicate a 'profile' of customer and as such if all facts that would be used ot underwrite the risk are not disclosed then a claim can be denied

    strabismus:

Im having a milltek cat back exhaust fitted to a new audi tt 2008 2.0 FSI.

Would you expect this to raise premiums much? Gocompare.com say mods such as "stainless steel exhaust" are covered as standard?!

Also if I put an S Badge ont he car and a Quattro badge would this affect it?

Stainless steel exhausts are not covered as standard unless specifically stated as such. Parsons, Goco, has as much of an idea about insurance as she does about her eyebrow width and make up application. Naff all.

The only time this would be covered as standard, is if the whole 2.0 2008 FSI models were made as such and that the insurer accepts them as standard and not as optional extras or modifications. You need to consider if the BHP is increased, by what percentage and have any other modifications been made to support the Milltek cat? Is it a FULL Milltek cat system? The term implied by the other company is far too broad to imply this to every policy and should not be adhered to. The badges itself shouldn't be too much of an issue, as long as this cannot be misconstrued as decals.

Usually exhausts and cat carry a 2.5-5% load, decals anywhere between 2.5-10%. This could work out costly on an expensive vehicle, especially where a specialist company is to be sought.

My educated guess is that the Milltek Cat is a Full system and IS a modification. Declare it anyway!

Hi Cerbius, I think badges are a bit over the top!!! Or should I declare my AA badge?

you need to make the insurer aware of any and all modifications incluing the badges, if not they can claim that you didn't give full information and deny any claim you make.

It is simply not worth trying to get a way with stuff, it will always come back to you

If you declared the badges the insurer might think you're a boy racer. BB
