    Re: Europe x UK

VAT rates range from about 15% to 25%. It's up to each individual EU government to decide what to set. It's not a case of supporting or not supporting what other countries do.

    Europe x UK

    Hi everyone,

I was reading a curiously controversial article on the TMF website for European VAT and IPF services and kind of got myself questioning which is right? Do you think the EU should support - perhaps even follow? - our tax cuts? I personally don't see the true rationale of it since it will be back to our dreaded 17.5%. I assume that if the cut was permanent, perhaps changes would be made, but then again I am not that good a person to argue about such things. I was wondering if anyone has a clearer view on this tax cut in relation to Europe and what we can expect from this discrepancy?

You can check out the article on TMF (you will be taken to a PDF in their website, no viruses): http://www.tmf-vat.com/upload/file/Europe%20Shuns%20UK%20VAT%20Cutting%20Strategy.pdf

What would be everybody's comments on this?

:) Thanks for the input! I am trying to make sense of this. Will try to make a case study of it in class tomorrow and just want to compare what I get in class with what you - the general public - think. I could even get the results published here if you feel so curious. :)

    Cheers
