    E.R.N.I.E.

I have had the maximum amount 'invested' in premium bonds since last August. So far I have 'won' only £300. Anyone else having any better luck?

    Re: E.R.N.I.E.

I have premium bonds and consider it a 'punt' rather than an investment. I have won a couple of £100 prizes but that is it.

You may have more chance of making money by replying to one of those nigerian emails offering you a percentage of one a large sum of money that they are trying to get out of the country... :-)

The yield currently shows as 3.4% on the NSI website. This is tax free. There are better investments out there but it does have a fun element and a chance of winning an above average prize or even the big one.

The loss is the rate of inflation.

Had Premium Bonds since 1962 and never won a penny.

I thin that al you people are lucky as I've invested or rather thrown my £14,000 in Premium bonds & waitd for around a year but to no result. For me even a £100 is a dream. Best of luck for you.

    Re: E.R.N.I.E.

£800 winnings on £13000 invested since Jan. guess I've been lucky. Works out at about 6% I think!!! Not a long term investment strategy for me though, just somewhere to park some cash that I know I'm going to have to spend this year...

    Re: E.R.N.I.E.

Took out the 30k after 12 months, total 'winnings' came to 550 over 12 months. That is a return of less than 2%. It was fun I guess, but I want a proper rate of return on my hard earned cash, so will place it in Icici Bank at 7.2%.

    Re: E.R.N.I.E.

I've had £20k invested for ~ 9 years since a redundancy- after reading this thread did a quick calcn on winnings - which are reinvested - works out at 2.82% compounded return - not going to set the world on fire !! May have to consider getting out now I've done the numbers.

I,ve had £500 invested fo 8 years, and won nothing. But for me its just a free lottery, where you are sure to get your money back.
