    Re: annual usage kwh

    Nalin,

    Sorry to hear about your issue.

    Just to clear this up a little for the rest of the readers, there are NO hiden costs/discounts included in any of the 'Consumer Focus' accredited comparison sites.

    All discounts are included in the calculation and will be clearly highlighted on the details tab for each product which can be found by clicking through from the results page.

    In relation to a discount of this nature, the only product that springs to mind is from Npower. This is a significant discount (approx. £105 per annum) which is offered to customers after they have been on the tariff for +12-months.

    Whilst I agree consumers need to be aware of these products/discounts, it's unfair, and untrue, to say comparison sites are misleading.

    Any suggestions on how to make this information more transparent will be welcomed.

    Kind regards,

    Re: annual usage kwh

    Unless you are careful, these comparisons are useless.

    These websites include ANNUAL LOYALITY/ BONUS Rewards in their calculations and this is misleading.

    A number of utility companies cheat by offering hefty annual rewards and once a new customer is tied to contract to get the reward, there are price rises far in excess of the reward may be.

    Even this reward is never creditred in the 12th month bill, but 13th or 14th month bills.

    So, I have started discounting this so called annual duel fuel/loyality rewards that are only credited after 12 months,as I have already been fleeced by a company.

    But then this might be in interest of all the comparison sites to confuse the customers!!!!

    Re: annual usage kwh

    In this instance, I am referring to gas usage. I give no info on actual cost. The calculation made by the comparison sites therefore should be constant; they have the postcode and the kWh used.

    Since putting the post up yesterday, I've done the same thing for my neighbour. Same nonsensical difference.

    Shopaholical asks for the details, but I'm not prepared to put those up on an open forum. How do I communicate in private?

    joxtersenior,

    Can you send through all the details you entered, including:

    Current supplier(s):

    Current tariff(s):

    Current payment method(s): Monthly Direct Debit

    Postcode:

    Usage(kwh/£) per annum:

    I can then carry out a check to see how these discrepancies are occurring.

    Are you looking at the cost of the electricity that you use or the amount that you pay? There can sometimes be quite a big difference.

    annual usage kwh

    I have a problem here: I've used All of the sites to assess potential savings. I only give the annual usage in kWh. In all cases, the cost of that usage is wildly over-estimated by the sites. For instance, my most recent check predicted that my annual cost for gas was 37 pct more than it actually is. To cross-check, I've used friends figures and got the same type of reply. I don't have any special tariff, I pay by direct debit, exclude the miserable discount I get, but add the VAT.

    A friend's bill is 380pds -odd; the sites state that he is paying upwards of £560 and that they can save him nearly £80.

    What's going on?
