taff 1:Hi I have purchased a Toshiba lap top from Tesco which says I have a one year guarantee, but I have read in the daily mail that under European law there is a two year gurantee period. If that is correct what is the position of my consumer rights and how do I apply this to me.Thank you .
Yes a two-year guarantee applies for the sale of all consumer goods everywhere in the EU (Directive 1999/44/EC).
See http://ec.europa.eu/publications/booklets/move/64/index_en.htm .
I purchased an extended warranty directly from Toshiba for 3 years I think. It was not that expensive and if it becomes faulty they provide a collect and return service.
