I am not on the electoral roll as I do not want my details sold on and I do not wish to vote. However, I am having great difficulty in getting a bank account even though I already have a current account with Barclays and have had that account for over 40 years.

I am trying to shop around for a better deal with another bank but as I say, this seems to be impossible without being on the voting list.

Easy! Get yourself on the electoral role and exercise your right to vote, a right that has been earned with the blood of generations past. Just think yourself lucky that you don't live in Zimbabwi where your money would be useless, as would your vote.
