Re: EDF Monthly Direct Debit Calculation flawed - check your latest bill

Further to this thread - I've had a bill raised by EDF as a result of a meter reader visit - and, yes, they have increased my DD for electricity by over 30% for no discernable reason.
HOWEVER, a call to EDF Customer Services at 8:00am this morning has got the DD restored to its original (and correct!) value.Thank God for the freephone number!

EDF Monthly Direct Debit Calculation flawed - check your latest bill

I thought I would share with you my recent experience of EDFs new monthly direct debit calculation system. Basically it doesnt work. I have iphone EDF app and regularly submitted readings up until today; they appear to calculate incorrectly. They upped my Direct Debit by 30% this month and had to call and get it back down (second month in a row) and was pretty peeved off this time. I am on a Fixed Rate Tariff.

It seems that the EDF 'system' alters your direct debit amount based on the last 2 readings it received and doesn't seem to consider the full year usage estimate (annual estimate is correct) that is also provided on letter. In Winter, right now, you will obviously use more a lot more gas and a little electric than rest of year.

The suggested Direct Debit which was to be changed in January 2012 was approx 12 x 13thOct -13thNov usage (£100) which is plain stupid when some months in summer the usage of Gas is about £10 per month. The bill atcually stated my annual usage would be £800 dual fuel and althoughI am current in payments £70 was going to automatically change my payments to match £1200 a year incorrect Direct Debit estimate.

DO NOT SUBMIT METER READINGS TO EDF UNLESS REQUESTED AS YOUR DIRECT DEBIT AMOUNT WILL BE CHANGED
