The heading says it all.... We are a small business that has just been landed with a huge utility bill from Edf, basically we have been paying estimated bills for the last 5 years - Edf have read the meter on many occassions but had never updated their billing. This finally came to light when our meter was changed. Next thing we know we have a bill for over £25,000. Edf admitted that the meter readings were ignored by its system and they had failed in their duty to record the readings correctly, they have offered two solutions - One is to pay the sum off less a discount of £4,000 or pay the entire amount off over six years - the snag being I cannot change utility companies until the amount was cleared down. I offered them £17,000 to settle the dept - they have refused.
My next option is the Energy Ombudsman route which I need to persue if I want to contest this offer.
I was really hoping for a bit of feedback from MS.COM forum folks on the following
Has anyone else had similar experience.... what was the out come....?
Do you think my offer was fair / realistic...?
Does anyone have any experience of working with the Energy Ombudsman...
Any other info, help, advice would be greatly appreciated....
Chris
