    Re: EDF bill very high!

Using electricity for heating is expensive and you are doing well if you can average £50 per month even using economy 7.

Having said that, because you are using EDF, you do need to go back and check all your bills against the meter readings. I queried one of their bills because the starting reading was not the same as the previous bill's finishing reading. They did the bill again and it came out at a higher amount the second time so I calculated the amount myself and paid that. I have invited them to find any mistakes in my calculation but instead they are threatening to force illegal entry into my property and install a prepayment meter to collect the difference between my calculation and their second bill. I'll post more on this saga when a conclusion is more likely.

To answer your question, the bills do not seem that high but you should take more meter readings and check the EDF bills very very carefully.

    EDF bill very high!

    Hi all,

At the beginning of this year, my girlfriend and I moved into a 1 bed flat and set up our EDF electricity account (we don't have gas). Our standard monthly rate was £8.

In the colder months, we made use of our storage heaters when necessary but abandoned use early March when our first bill came in just under £70. We also begun to reduce our general consumption by turning lights/appliances off etc.

Our second bill, which has just arrived, is £250, and our standard monthly charge has increased to £85.

This seems shocking to me, that our monthly rate has increased by 100%, and our Summer bill is nearly 400% more than our Winter bill.

Am I missing something here? Has a mistake been made? What should I do?

The only appliances we own and use are:
    2 Desktop computers,
    Microwave,
    Oven & Hob,
    TV & DVD player,
    Fridge,
    Freezer,
    Electric shower,
    Kettle,
    ES Lights.

Does this bill not seem unusual to anyone?

    Thanks in advance,

Edit: ##We gave a meter reading back in February, and have checked our meter again now against the numbers on the bill, everything seems genuine...##
