Can anyone help? My son pays monthly (well I do) for his insurance. The payment went out on 27 Jul and the next one is due out on 27 Aug. We haven't defaulted or cancelled any payments and yet when he logged on to do his car tax it says he is not insured and he hasn't received the latest policy statement so the last one he has ran out on 27 Jul 08. We checked his Ecar account and it says the same.

They are now closed until Tuesday.

Has anyone else experienced this with Ecar?

This a very serious situation. It is quite possible that, if the insurance is not valid, your son could be stopped by the police, the car seized and destroyed. My advice would be to not use the car until things have been sorted out. The police are very good these days at detecting uninsured cars and it doesn't matter that it's someone else's fault.

Thanks my husband (his dad) is a policeman so he's advised him not to drive it for that reason.

This really is poor though. We've paid and now there is no-one to ask!

Yes, it's worth parking off the road too. It's no great deal if a £30 banger with no tax or MOT gets seized and crushed but if it's your son's pride and joy, it is somewhat more serious. I agree 100% that it's a bad system. Is there an emergency 24hr phone number mentioned in the policy details? It's worth a look but, of course, you should not believe the insurer unless either the car gets a "yes" from askmid.com or you get a certificate.
