It's very unusual indeed for any company to refund monies collected from a credit card by means of cash (a cheque's as good as cash).

This could potentially be construed as aiding money laundering and there are laws against that! It was commonplace for dodgy characters to buy very expensive insurance policies and then cancel them soon after the cover is effected to obtain the large refunds - the dodgy money would have been successfully laundered. Insurance companies have very oneruous legal duties now to prevent this happening.

Was it a bank debit card you used or a credit card? If the latter, politely remind them of their duties under the Money Laundering legislation. I'm sure they'll miraculously be in a position to reverse electronically, for you.

took E and L Pet Insurance out 24 months ago and 12 months ago found that they hiked their prices up massively for renewal. retook the insurance out as a new customer a lot cheaper and instructed them not to retain my bank and credit card details on their files.

12 months later (ie now) dont need to have pet insurance but hay ho E and L Per Insurance have taken money out of my bank account without permission. No warning letter that they were going to take the money out (can only assume that they didnt like me logging in as new customer for price comparison last year so have tried to slip the invoice thro my bank account without me noticing :(

have rung up to complain and whilst they feel they can take money by credit card transaction - they can only return this money by cheque - surprise surprise....still waiting for the cheque

whilst you may be able to save a few £'s by using E and L Pet Insurance their practices are not helpful. In my view they are a rubbish company and would strongly suggest that you buy elsewhere
