    Drive denying accident

    Hi

I had an accident last week where the driver pulled out on me. He came from a minor road onto an A road.

I hit him but he admitted liability as he came onto the A road. I took his address and number plate and passed them onto my insurance company to amke a claim.

3 weeks later my insurance company are saying the driver denies having an accident.

My insurance company does want to take it further as there is no witness or police report.

Is there anything i can do as they don't seem to be interested!!!! surely i can get the insurance company to look at his car!!!

    Any help gratefully recieved

    Re: Drive denying accident

Hi --- I could have understood him admitting an accident occured, then denying it was his fault....but...

To totally deny an accident actually happpened is very strange indeed as the Police could pay him a visit, requesting to see any damage to his car. !

Therefore the question has to be asked, "are the insurance company satisfied he is actually the correct person" ?

The driver who pulled out on you may just possibly have illegally fitted a false set of "cloned" number plates to evade the law, in which case the person who the insurers have contacted may be telling the truth, in that he is not aware of an accident. !

I would contact the Police reporting this concern, to see if they consider it their duty to visit the address (I think it is), to inspect the car and ascertain if the truth is being told by the person who lives there, if he is telling the truth he has a right to know that some individual is running around with his false number plates on their car, if he's guilty the damage is still likely visible.....It is one way of you getting the Police justifiably involved and interested in your case.

    Re: Drive denying accident

    Hi Thanks for the tip

I called the police they didnt sound too enthusiastic but they are going to investigate.

Just hope they haven't scrapped it or reported it stolen!! His car was fairly old so i don't think it was economical to repair it

It had a big dent in it so it would be hard to make out it wasn't in an accident, unless he makes out he ditched it or something saying it was an accident with no 3rd party!!

    Anyway thanks for the advice

    Re: Drive denying accident

Hi -- I am glad the Police decided to investigate, it is in the public interest, as this motorist is either innocent...in which case he has a right to know that his number plates have been cloned, causing him and the Police future problems.

Or he is possibly the guilty party, in which case he needs charging for failing to provide the correct details relating to an accident and wasting Police time....on top of his just deserves in committing a traffic offence.

Isn't It amazing, what you have done from the comfort of your armchair.......it seems was not in the interests of your insurers.....for some very strange reason. !!!
