    Re: Double Glazing

I used a company called BAC - not cheap, but you get what you pay for. Double glazing rarely adds value to the property, but if you choose the wrong style, it can certainly decrease the value so choose carefully. Get a quote, not an estimate - a quote is legally binding, an estimate is not.

    Re: Double Glazing

    Hi Homegirl,

My folks have just had Anglian in to do their house. In the main, they were very good. The quality of the windows was excellent and despite the fact it was quite a large house plus a sun room, they finished almost right on time.

    Problems -

They added on another amount after they had started due to what they called "additional work". Make sure that you get a full and final estimate before parting with a penny.

Their contractor managed to put his drill through the dust sheet and into my parents living room carpet whilst fitting the patio door. The insurance only covered him up to the value of the carpet minus money for 'fair wear and tear'. So my folks were forced to pay £400 towards a new one.

Overall, I think they got a good product at a reasonable price. Anglian are not the cheapest, but like I said, they're good quality. Before you invite anyone around to quote, I'd have a peek on the Watchdog website just in case. You don't want cowboys!!

    Double Glazing

    Hi All,

I am interested in double glazing my house before the winter but with so many companies to choose from I don't really know where to start or who to pick. I have 3 small/medium windows, front door and a large window with back door. No one I know can recommend someone. Is picking someone out of the phone book a bad idea? Can anyone out there recommend a reputable company that charges a reasonable price? I live in Birmingham, all help gratefully received.

    Thanx Homegirl
