Hello Netty, Yes, its a 'Virtual Network' for background see here: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/03/28/dot_mobile_administration/
There is soo much money swilling around in mobile telecommunications that all sorts of things are attempted in the commission fed middle ground between the actual operators and the end customers . . . This was one of them. In fact Vodaphoney provided all the 'real' structure from the start. Now, of course, to protect their cash stream they will want to take over the contracts.
The company is 'in administration' so in general terms it still exists and it can legitimately 'pass on' your contract in many circumstances. Unfortunately for the Vodaphoneys that means your entire contract not just the bit where you pay them . . . though you might have to fight hard to get the other bits where they give you something
The Vodaphoneys have been the most aggressive company so far in milking often low income or other vulnerable customers in the cashback scandals, and yes, there is ample hard evidence.
Ask, in writing, whether it is their intention to honour all parts of the contract or just to take your money for airtime . . . if they say they are just going to 'cherrypick' - taking the payments but not honouring all the contract - then they are changing the contract and you have grounds to terminate it should someone else offer a better deal. Hope that helps.
