    Re: Dodgy insurance companies

Can I just add that cheaper isn't always best. Saying that, most large Insurers do tend to be priced around the same level and offer the same service but it's the smaller Insurer you've never heard of that usually causes the most problems.

    (Just don't use Swinton)

COPE3: Anyone know any reliable sources of checking out whether an insurance company is decent or not?

'Mymotorquote' are just brokers, that will provide Insurance through a panel of Insurers. They are part of Allen & Allen group, who were apparently finalists in the 'Insurance awards' 2008.

My observative about some companies, is they invest alot in employing sales staff or IT spend on internet sites, but when it comes to customer service they can let you down.

The advice is to use Insurance companies that are well established and are of a size, that they will also employ sufficient staff to provide a decent level of customer service. Also a good local Insurance Broker (not swinton) will be able to recommend decent companies that offer a good service and will be there to help you, if you did have a problem.

Defaqto provide ratings on the main Insurance products available but this is more about the cover, than the service.

Personally I rate the RBS Insurance underwritten policies DL, Churchill, Tesco; and also Aviva, Allianz, AA and Fortis. There have been adverse comments about the Budget Insurance policies, which you will find details of, if you search on this site and other forums. Budget group administer alot of policies that come up cheapest on the comparison sites. There are also adverse comments about Quinn and Swiftcover.

    Dodgy insurance companies

After finding the cheapest insurance quote on moneysupermarket, I typed in the name of a company "Mymotorquote" on google, and found some negative reviews about it on reviewcentre.com. Then I looked at the other reviews and it appears almost all of them have bad reviews. The only ones with positive reviews only have 1 or 2 reviews. The ones with significant feedback all have negative reviews. Now instead of looking for the cheapest insurer, I am now looking for the least dodgy. The last thing I need is an insurance company canceling their policy on me in the middle after taking my deposit and payments. Anyone know any reliable sources of checking out whether an insurance company is decent or not?
