While I'm sure it was annoying and inconvenient for you that your shopping didn't arrive, I'm finding it hard to believe that you don't have a corner shop somewhere close by to go pick up a few litres of milk from... If it was that mission critical perhaps you should have been planning a trip to the shop in person, not depending on mechanical trucks that break down or a human driver who calls in sick. They told you that your food would come between 2 and 4 and gave you an hour's notice to the earlier end of the scale. You had an hour to figure out how to get to a shop and get your food in person.

Please don't take this as a flame, it isn't. But you came off as over reacting. Big time. And what are you ulitmately after? Compensation for your 'wasted time' and 'stress' from ASDA I have no doubt. But sometimes in life you will be disappointed, stressed and inconvenienced by life. That does not mean every company who adds to it has some financial responsibility to you. As Skywalker pointed out, have you written to the company HQ to formally complain? That would have been my next logical step if I didn't like where I got on the telephone. You have to realize this likely happens to ASDA a few times by circumstances beyond their control and they can't hand out free grocery orders to everyone every time. They gave you notice it had happened. At least they didn't just not show up and not call.

As a reasonable person, my next step in the whole situation would likely have been to moan at my fiance that ASDA wasn't coming afterall and because they'd stressed me out and P1ssed me off we were going to Sainsbury's to replace the shopping because I wasn't feeling like spending money with ASDA today. Not to join a forum to moan about it. I don't think you can make a determination that ASDA is unreliable after one failed experience. If they'd done this to you several times now I'd understand where you were coming from. ASDA being owned by Wal Mart means that they're a big enough company that they don't really have to worry about one person not shopping there anymore. They offer enough that its not like you're going to break them.

Sometimes trucks break down. Sometimes staff call in ill. Sometimes that means that there are not enough trucks, hands or hours in the day to get to everyone. Unfortuneately this time it was you. I'm quite sure ASDA isn't thinking people take time off work to be home to collect their shopping. Perhaps you weren't aware, but milk can be bought at loads of places other than ASDA online...

Yes Skywalker, definitely missing the good ol' Cravendale Milk from England. We had a job finding fresh milk here for the first few weeks, even though we keep it in one of them big Yankee fridges it's jolly well gone orf within 2 days, damn it.

incidentally to anyone else other than this interferring annoying little busybody who likes to stick his nose in where it is not wanted. asda customer services were entirely unhelpful and uncaring when i did try to reach a resolution with them so i am just trying to save anyone the hassle and disappointment of my experience if you read ciao you will see it is far from an isolated incident with most who have been burned by asda online saying asda is only good in the store but diabolical online.

Detention is okay as long as I can get my milk delivered - preferably by Waitrose or M&S.

Although my local stores currently are TOPS, Big C and Villa Market. Luckily they all deliver, as does McDonald's and just about everyone else. Down town Bangkok is so civilised don't you find?
