Do you agree with the chief executive of Energywatch that consumers are being ripped off by energy firms? Vote now.

Allan Asher, the chief executive of Energywatch, has stated that competition in the energy market is a “myth” and that consumers are “getting it in the neck” from companies with no incentive to compete. Do you agree with his comments?

Are you being ripped off by energy firms? Vote now.

    • Yes, entirely – Power companies are ripping consumers off, their only concern is their profits and they aren’t doing anything to help consumers (83%)
    • Yes, partially – I agree that the market is uncompetitive but I wouldn’t be so hard on the energy companies as wholesale energy prices are at record highs (13.7%)
    • No, but with reservations – Energy prices are too high but I don’t think this is due to an uncompetitive market (1.6%)
    • No, not at all – Wholesale gas and oil prices are up so energy companies have every right to charge more (1.6%)

Absolutely! It appears the energy suppliers are making hugh profits at the expense of helpless consumers. It has been reported that UK's six big power suppliers have seen a 30% jump in profits from £3.7billion to £4.9bn.Further, they're now introducing exit fees to leave their "fixed rates".
