do I have to pay for an item I did not buy?

I have just queried an item that appears on my Sainsburys Visa statement, I have gone thru ( with the call ctr) all the possible stores that use the financial services compnay named on my statement and I have been in none of these.  They tell me that although I have asked for item to be put into dispute, I will still have to pay for this item

what are my rights?  they say if i do not pay they will charge me interest on the disputed amount

Hi --- They should put this amount plus interest aside if it is being disputed particularly if the transaction has not been authorised by yourself, and they should place a stop on your card to protect you and themselves from any other charges being placed, also further issuing you a new card while their investigations are completed, to stop any repeat offence.

Insist that they do this as you are not liable, for any charges that have been illegally placed, neither will you be liable for any future unauthorised charges, speak to a manager about this.
