    shaunc1987:

You are right about the 7 days notice of disconnection. Whether they can prove hand delivery of the notice is perhaps a matter of fact you will be able to challenge but it hardly helps in the short term.

The CAB online info is here...

    http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/index/your_world/gas_and_electricity/electricity_supply.htm#Arrears_and_avoiding_disconnection

Go through it with a fine tooth comb, in particular there is a Consumer Direct number to call.

Now this not meant to be judgemental but rather to help you focus on other issues. According to the advice guide, action should not begin until 28 days after a bill. Did you receive a bill and what did you do on receipt of last bill? Were there arrears on the bill before that and did you discuss that with edf? Disconnection is unusual while there is ongoing customer discussion about arrears recovery.

Unfortunately your post appears silent on that issue which is not helpful.

    Disconnection of edf energy electricity

hi there 2day i had my electricity fully disconnected without warning as i am in arreas with the company. when looking it up on the internet apparently you have to have a letter aty least 7 days previous warning you of these actions which i didnt but when i rang up they said it had been hand delivered to me in person a week 2day which was impossible as i was at work. when they came 2day they posted a letter of the oustanding balance which is due to be paid to regain connection which is £209 but when i rang up they kept changing there mind much it is to be paid they said it was 375 then 499 then now they want 575, i just dont understand this at all as my last bill was 375 from november to 1 march-so in the space of two weeks it has cost me £200. now they are saying it has 2 be paid in full 2 regain connection plus court costs of which i havnt a clue about as i havnt recieved a single letter about any court case which i cant afford to do as i only work 16 hours but if i was on any income they would happilly help me, so basically im getting penalised for having a job. i have a combi boiler which needs electricity to work it so i have no heating and have a 5 year old daughter. has anyone had this kind of problem if so how have you got around it or does anyone know what i could do. thanks in advance for the replies.
