Hi Bob
I'm not sure if you've had success but we share some similarities. I see you posted this in May 2008 and so you may have already sorted it all out. But I'd be intrigued to know if you've been successful in getting a savers where'd you go?
I'm also a discharged bankrupt.
I was made bankrupt in March 07 and discharged in October 2007.
This year my mum did an equity release and gave me and my sisters a similar amount of money each to yours as part of an early inheritance.
I too have a Co-Op cashminder account. But was told even if I had £1m I could not have a current account until 6 years are up.
I explained when I was made bankrupt and discharged.
They told me I could have a Fixed Bonds, a Smart Saver, and an ISA.
I applied and my application was REFUSED.
I am now being told I cannot have an account that pays interest until the bankruptcy is lifted from my credit accounts which happens in March 2013.
I have no restrictions on my discharge and my credit report is up to date.
So I'll be interested to see if you're told teh same thing.
Let me know, kind regards and good luck Jean
PS - there are 3 credit reference agencies you need to check, Experian is the one Co-Op uses also Equifax and Call Credit.
In public notices you need to make sure they have listed you as discharged and the date it happened.
And in the accounts section you need to make sure all your defaulted accounts have a balance of £0 zero AND that they all read "SATISFIED".
