    Re: DEPOSITS - JEM CARPETS

if you do accept the credit note then you are giving up your legal right to a cash refund. You will not have a leg to stand on!!

Speak to the manager on the phone and if he will not help then contact his boss......then his boss...then his boss..... (and so on)

Worth a try? You have nothing to lose by doing this!!!!

Confused [8-)] DEPOSITS - JEM CARPETS

    Folks,

I am looking to help my little sister out who had just moved into her new flat and put a deposit down for carpets. She has since changed her mind about her own flat as she feels she can no longer afford it (been on strike with RM). She has since approached Jem Carpets who have told her that they can only give her a credit note for the £99.

I have since looked on the Citizens Advice Beurau's website for her and it states that she could be due a full refund if not some money back depending on if the company highlighed that the deposit would be non-refundable, if she has cost the company an money ( if they ordered carpet in) or broke a contract.

She was not told the deposit would be non-refundable

She has not entered into any contract with Jem Carpets either verbally or written

She has certainly not cost Jem Carpets any money as it was cut offs from carpet that was in the warehouse that she was purchasing ( all on the original reciept for the paid £99)

Can anyone give me any pointers of where to go from here?

     Thanks

    Jules
