Athelie is right. You do need to be very careful of who you approach for this kind of thing as these companies are "for profit" and so the emphasis is on the profit and not the "for you" side of things.
It does sound like you gained a bad deal through this but it also has rto be pointed out that before any deal is set in motion it is put before you to look through agree and sign off against before they can action it so you shouild have known how it would work and you should have received projections of how the debt woul;d be decreased and eventually paid off. If the true running of the account has not matched these projections then you need to question why they have not if you have made the correct payments.
It also needs to be pointed out that while CCCS is a charity debt counselling program to help (free of charge) anyone with debt problems they are run and sponsored and financially backed by the banks and financial institutions and are geared to get the banks money back at a little better rate and a little quicker than other programs.
I mention this as one other regular poster is fanatical that because this "free charity" program is run by these institutions that it must be a bad thing and they are there to benefit nobody but the banks etc. I personally think that if you borrowed the money, you need to pay it back and it really makes no difference who runs the charity as long as you get charged no fees, the advice is real and sound and for the benefit of the consumer and you get your debt paid back. After all, you borrwed the money so you do need to pay it back!
Personally they get a big thumbs up from me, they do great work and help a great many desperate people who may have run out of options and quite frankly it could be run by Asil Nadir or Sean Quinn as long as it does what it says on the tin and free of charge then it cant be a bad thing.
Must also point out the other debt charity program which has been missed.

Be wary of other companies with similar sounding names to any of the comopanies mentioned above, lots of "for massive profit" companies are trying to ride on the back of the charity names to draw in business, I have also just noticed that some companies are now adding /gov at the end of their web addresses to give them a more official sounding name....still trying to rip the ^%$£ out of you in fees though.
