    I have since found that Nationwide charge 2% plus £1.00 per transaction.

    Santander charge 1.5% to draw cash (min. £1.99) and £1.25 per transaction for purchases.

    Thanks for that, I'll look at the loaded cards option & check Nationwide's charges.

    I think that Nationwide charges are still quite low for a debit card. Before they added transaction charges (there were always currency exchange charges), I understand that they got a lot of short-term customers just for the holiday season which isn't what a bank or building society wants.

    As an alternative to a debit card, you should have a look at some pre-paid currency cards.

    Which is the best Debit Card to use a broad? In the past Nationwide did not charge,but which has the lowest charges/commission now?
