the best thing you could do is stop your direct debit and go and find a reputuable company that would entertain your problem and would pay you out if any thing else occured to you while under cover.Scotish widows and lloyds will find any provision or excuse not to pay out and will fight you in any court. You have had a luck escape !

It may be worthwhile approaching another insurance company. Each seem to have different ways to work out the risk. I don't know what your illness is, however I take it that you get some sort of sick pay from your employer. Maybe look for the insurance cover to kick in after the company sick pay ends. It might reduce the risk and should without doubt reduce the premium. Good luck. Kevin. I am not an expert.

Critical Illness cover - is it neccessary

Back in May of this year I applied for a mortgage with Lloyds TSB and out of naivety and some laziness decided to fo with their insurer Scottish widows for Life and Critical illness cover. 3 months later and they have told be they will not insure me for critical illness on grounds of pre existing conditions, this is something I disagree with and my doctor thinks is overkill as the conditions are asymptomatic. Is it worth fighting to try and get the critical cover or just take life cover only to put an end to what has become a bit of a nightmare.
