    Re: Credit scores

i not using a debt company, just dealing direct with each creditor. I did use a company at the start but was paying them a monthly fee. I felt that it would be better to use this cash to help pay off my debt, every little helps as they say.

I found that speaking to my creditors was a lot easier than i thought and regretted not speaking to them before things got too far out of hand. Most creditors would perfer you dealing direct i think.

2 of my creditors have said that i can make them an offer to settle the the accounts, it doesnt need to be the full amount and if they accept then they wont chase me for the outstanding cash. This would still show as outstanding on my credit file though so i would rather clear them completely, although i seen another post that stated they might accept 40% less than the balance so i was a bit tempted but think that it would still show for 6 years and keep my score down.

    Re: Credit scores

Hi I can't answer your question I'm afraid but I wanted to query your arrangement to pay off some of your debts in the dmp. We have paid some off but went direct and not thru the dmp - what is your plan? We as yet have not told the dmp in case they charge us for not going thru them. Will you keep your existing creditors with the dmp or pay them direct? It seems you are in a similar situation so would be nice to know. Thanks

    Credit scores

Looking for advice on credit scores, does anyone know the scale breakdown ? e.g. 300-400 = very poor, 400-500 = poor and so on. I went into a DMP with several creditors last year resulting in my score being very poor. I have managed to get a loan that will allow me to clear half of my creditors. Although i'm paying a higher interest rate i'm hoping that my credit score will improve enough over the next year as i should be able to clear most of my debt( the loan included) when i move my mortgage within the next 20 months.

I have an arrangement with 6 creditors but will be paying 3 of these accounts in full within the next week or so, will my credit score improve because i will have settled 3 accounts but still have 3 accounts in a DMP?
