    Credit Report Issues, Please Help

    Morning everyone,

Ive got a little issue, im planning on applying for a mortgage next year, ive recently ready you need at least 2 to 3 current accounts.

I assumed I was okay, because I had 2 accounts with Halifax and 1 with Abbey national that both appear on my credit record file. I also have a contract mobile phone that ive had for at least 3 years now.

But I was recently reading that the accounts need to have overdrafts attached to them, so I called Halifax to apply for an overdraft on one of the accounts I have we them, the operator then told me thats not possible as it just a cash card account and i would have to apply for a current account.

When I asked her what is the difference between my account and a current account she said ill beable to use it online, I had to stop her because ive been using my card online for years as its a Visa Electron card. I een previous had a cheque book with this account, but I actually cancelled it about a year ago as I wasnt using it. Also my Abbey account has a cheque book too.

Although i assumed this was a current aacount as ive had it for over 10 years and opened it when I was around 10 years old, also my Abbey card is also a Visa Electron card, sent it a Visa card for the account once, then sent me another Visa Electron and cancelled the Visa card, maybe because I only use the Abbey account for a couple of direct debits and when I need to pay for things by cheque.

My issue is, will I beable to get a mortgage with these accounts, because im not sure if they are deemed as credit accounts as neither my Halifax accounts or Abbey account have overdraft facilities, but they do appear on my credit file, with 0 missed or late payments, 0 overdraft balance. Along with my Contract phone with 3 mobile that has at least 36 months or no missed or late payments.

What should I do, open another current account and ensure I get an overdraft or are these account, because I really dont want to apply for a credit card to be honest.

    Any replies are greatly appreciated!!!!!

    Kind Regards,

    Marcus
