    Credit Card Limit

    Hi All,

I would like to ask for your advice on CC limit, please. I have one credit card with a limit of £2000, when I applied, a year ago, I was offered more, although I did not want to take it and was not required. Now I have applied for another credit card with 0% interest on purchases for 6 months, and I was given a credit card with a limit of £100 only, although they promise to increase it after 4 months. On the letter with an offer of credit card says that I will have credit limit of £2500.

It is not use to me have CC with limit of £100. I am thinking of canceling it and applying for another one, will I have the same problem with Credit Limit with any other company?

I can try to ask the first provider to increase my limit up to £2500 or £3000, although I will pay an interest of 15.9%.

I would prefer to have one with interest free at least for 6 to 9 months.

    Thank you for your advices.

    Re: Credit Card Limit

If you apply for lots of cards, then you are more likely to be rejected.

Yes, you can ask the provider to increase the limit (they will say "yes" or "no"), you can cancel the card and apply for another or you can use it a few times and ask for the limit to be increased in a few months time. It's all up to you to consider the various options.

Remember that the higher the credit limit, the more the "0%" deal is likely to cost them.

However, what you can't do is demand a card with a £3k limit, no interest for 9 months and so on and expect to be taken seriously. Credit card companies take the applications then make the decisions. It's quite possible, but not certain, that you will get a similar credit limit with the next application - or they might even reject the application which would probably upset you more...
