I agree, call them. I previously was in a similar situation with Barclaycard and they reduced my rate from 19.9% to 17.9% and then down to 14.9%. To put it into context this was over a three year period and because I had paid more than the minimum for a couple of years prior to this.

Try calling the card services but I doubt you'll get very far - this is, after all, how they make their money. Your better bet would be to find someone who is offering a 0% card and transfer the balance to that and pay off as much as you can during the interest free period. Watch out for the Ts and Cs though.
