    Re: Credit Card Application

Thanks Maxstream. As I am a customer already and they therefore have all my details, I did think it would be easy, just saying "yes". An odd way around of doing things-First they tell you you're eligible for an additional product, then they act like they don't trust you are who you say you are when you agree to take it. You'd have thought that if they had any concerns about my identity they'd've contacted me regarding my current card! Well, who am I to understand the mysterious ways of the banks..?

they asked me-not the other way around!

They actually ask you to apply. Banks are not allowed to issue new credit cards without a full application and credit check. Often their literature gives the false impression that it's just a matter of you saying yes or no.

    Credit Card Application

I was recently offered another credit card by my current provider but due to the profound complexity of the application process I have given up half way through!

In addition to me faxing my signature across (I haven't seen a fax machine since 2003, didn't know they still made them) they wanted two current bills from me and proof of income. Now, if I was a brand new customer I'd understand, but I've been with these guys for a couple of years now-that's a couple of years of marketing bumf and until recently, when I switched, statements (always paid on time) direct to my door.

What gets my goat, is that they asked me-not the other way around! Is this normal procedure, or is my provider just a jobsworth?
