    It looks like the flight I am needing to book is costing at least £100 more plus I have to pay the hideous £85 just to change the flight. I asked ebookers.com (where I got the flight) what to do and mentioned I paid with credit card but they said I had to pay the difference and the changing flights fees.

    I thought that if I paid with credit card, I had more 'protection' if anything went wrong?

    Is there anything I can do, I dont really have this spare money to pay out the extra for the flights.

    Do you still have that Halifax booklet that comes with the all in one card when you got the card?

    I think its either page 13 or 14 which explains it (towards the back) what their policy is on refunds and or phony/fraudulent transactions or problems with merchants and venders.

    There are different policies and different criteria, like whether you booked it over the phone, online or in person etc, what you believed it would be, who is liable and so on.

    Also i think there is a completely seperate section for air travel and international jurisdiction...there is a help number there too, which i think might be your best bet.

    If the problem was caused by your travel agent, you should complain to them and try to recover the additional flight costs. The travel agent should advise you of the complaints process and about how ABTA can help.

    I don't think you have a come back on the credit card connected with your flights as there was no problem with the original transaction. The problem was caused by the travel agent causing the original trip dates to be moved.

    You could phone the card company to check and also consumer direct for advice.

    I believe the travel agent should pay the additional cost, if their mistake caused it to be incurred. Speak to the manager and advise that you want to complain to their head office and ABTA. The manager may stump up the money or arrange with the airline to change the flight details, at no extra cost to you. Even if the agent was not involved with the booking they may still be able to do this for you.
