    Re: Credit Building

Hi my first card was a mastercard which i still use, then i applied for a capital one card which i got, they increased my limit last week after i had 4 months, i dont pay them in full, I heard if peoples pay them back in full then they dont like that, so i always more than the minimum amount but always leave a balance in their so they get interest from me, of course on our credot file it shpws us as paying on time and adds to our GOOD record for other companies to look at

    Re: Credit Building

    Hi there,

now i have never been bankrupt BUT i did live and work out of the country for several years and made the foolish mistake of closing down all my uk accounts before i went. when i returned i had no uk history for several years so i could get nothing, my experian showed very little, and i was a pain.

i too applied to capital one and after sending in ID they accepted me with a £200 limit, after 4 months they increased my limit to £500 which was good (still very little), several months later they still have not increased it any more despite paying it in full every month BUT to my surprise my bank Lloyds upgraded my account to a platinum account (which although it costs £15 a month comes wih lots of great extras including travel insurance which is handy cos i travel a lot), BEST NEWS YET TO COME - they then offered me a credit card with a £6000 limit, and just to see what happened I applied last month for an MBNA card, they did ask for address verification for last 3 years but then accepted me for a £8200 card, so within a few months i seem to be on track.

My experian still shows as very poor BUT i guess with 6 months of history on there with these cards I will soon find that increasing.

I mean for me I use the cards now for day to day and settle most each month, i do leave a small balance so that they make a few quid in interest but it goes to show with dedication you really can quickly build up a rating, Capital one may be expensive and less than generous on limits but without them I am sure I would have no credit now.

    Good luck!

    Re: Credit Building

Of course, you can fix the problem and start to build new positive credit history in a short time. But from now them main thing you should mention is not to make bankrupt again. because lenders usually take into consideration the fact that if someone filed a bankruptcy repeatedly second time.

For a while you can rebuild your credit score and only after that to apply for new credit cards. But i think in modern market there are much better offers than vanquis cards.

    Re: Credit Building

    Hi Geo, Try Halifax

They are doing a card for Poor credit at the moment, Go to there website click on Credit Cards and on the left hand side your see a List Click on Classic Card, This is the card you want, Let me know if you get excepted. You dont have to be banking with them to get one either. Give it ago.

But i would advise not to apply for a Vanquis or Aqua.... There interest is too High and a lot of people have had bad experiace with these two companys.

    Re: Credit Building

capital say that if you pay in full, on time and never go over your limit then they'll increase your limit. ive just paid my third so hopefully i'll get an increase.

what i was doing with capital one, so that they could earn money from me, was i was taking a tenner from the cash machine so that they would earn money that way. hopefully get a nice increase but not to worried if i dont.

does any one know if the other credit cards for poor ratings offer a bigger limit????

    Re: Credit Building

yes me too im on electoral roll, for many many moons lol im not going to ask for a increase if they give it then fine, if not then i will tell them it says on my online statements that on the 4th statement date they increase limit and i will tell them that of i dont automatically get one, but by a rule in general most credit card companies let you have it for a year and monitor you, then if after 12 months you have been a good boy lol they give you more lol, will wait and see what happens next statement day next week, well a week tomorrow to be precise

    Hi,

I never had to send ID in when i pplied they just sent me the card etc without any id but then i am on the elec roll. I did leave my account for a little while and just paid back the Min in the hope that they give me a increase. But never gone over the limit etc but then you never know we may awake in the morning to letter saying that we have an increase LOL!!!!!! fingers crossed

I know that they did send me a letter saying if i use my card once a month they will increase the limit but i do that anyway,

I will give it till the end of May and see what happens, If they dont give me an increase i will see if i can change over credit cards LOL!!!!!!!

But please post back and let me know if you where succesful with your Limit. Also taklking about credit. O applied for my report a little while ago and Capital One never put this on my report that i had a credit card, S still not sure how other lenders will see that we are good payers LOL!!!

    Re: Credit Building

hi i dont know if its true or not, but i read somewhere if someone pays back in full each month on a credit card they regard that customer as not as good a customer as someone who does not pay in full, i think the Egg card does not like customers who pay in full as they are not getting any money from the customer in interest, if someone pays their card not as a full payment each month but they pay interest then i think they prefer that type of customer more, if anybody knows different please tell us. It does say on capital ones website they increase the limit on the 4th statement IF YOU HAVE NOT GONE OVERLIMIT, MADE PAYMENTS ON TIME etc, during the first 4 months, so I will wait and see, and report back in due time. I dont know if they also do a further credit check beforehand, but thats ok with me as I have 2 credit cards and always keep within the limits and never miss a payment, capital One never asked me for any I.D. when I applied.

    Re: Credit Building

    Hi Moneybags2,

My credit was too a bit poor not because of Bad Debt just had no credit. Capital One too gave me a Card with a 100 pound credit limit, I have been with them for almost 7 months now. I pay by Direct Debit usually pay in full but when the 4th month came of having the card i was not offerd a increase, I have had the card for almost 7 months now and still never been offerd one, They do say on the 4th statement they will increase, But when i called them they said it's not always on the 4th month sometimes it's longer....
