    Re: Coventry BS

i hadnt realised they`d changed it from a fixed term/rate account - the current poppy account is a variable rate account so could rise if bank rate increases. my comment about the end of term was with regard to fixed rate/term products - my poppy account was a fixed term/rate to 31/12/09.

So - with the Poppy account - now only paying 3% - if the rates rise - I will remain on 3% ?

If this happens - I will close the account down and reopen it at the new rate

yes ive had accounts with the coventry for quite a few years. they have generally been one of the better bsocs in terms of savings rates (i have a poppy a/c opened last november still paying me 6.4% !) just look out for the rate when the term ends as they do what pretty much every other outfit does & automatically put your money into a much lower paying account. as for their security - no different to any other bank/bsoc if covered by the uk gov guarantee.

I've got a mortgage with them and I have been happy with it.

    Coventry BS

Anyone got a Coventry Building Society account

    Would you recommend them ?

I plan to invest some money in the poppy savings account - at 3% which appears pretty good ratewise at the moment

I am obviously worried about the security of this mutual BS though
