All banks are fairly consistent in their curreny conversion charges. However, they will open a Euro cheque account for you. That way, when you need to spend money in euros (if you ever do) then you do not pay conversion charges the other way too!

Converting a Euro cheque into Sterling...

I will shortly be gettin three cheques made out in Euros, which I ll need to convert into Sterling. I know exchange rates will be a big issue, but would anyone know a way of going about this without paying a small fortune in charges?

I am a UK resident with a HSBC bank a/c and thats about it. Will quite happily open an a/c elsewhere if it saves me a few bob.

    Much obliged
