    Re: Conservatories

    Cat,

Thanks. Our gas central heating system is pretty old and I doubt it would support more demand. The house is south facing but I take your point about heating. We are really undecided, its one of those luxury items which can cost a huge amount to do well.We are not short of space either within the house or the garden and it will change the look of the property.

Tough decision, hence looking for advice and guidance.

    Re: Conservatories

All I can really usefully tell you is that I love my conservatory and am very glad I had it built.

We used a local firm and I would recommend staying away from the big companies who were hugely more expensive in our case.

And I recommend underfloor heating which is the only real way to ensure the room can be used all year round; we have the sofa bed in ours.  Make sure it's gas and runs off your boiler - the electric version is prohibitively expensive.

    Conservatories

Seriously contemplating a conservatory as a home improvement. We are looking for a timber framed quality product in keeping with a Georgian style period home.Dimensions around 4.5m by 4 m.We had a quote last night from one of the leading names which was around £18 k more than our guesstimate.Nice product but.......!!

So many companies out there, and each consultation takes hours. Can you help with:

    1.Shortlist ideas.

    2.Good experiences.

    3.Value for money?

    4.Tips and pointers.

    5.Anything really.

    Thanks in anticipation.
