I' m not sure whether to buy a car which is already exempt from the London Congestion charge or buy a car and then convert to LPG for exemption. At the moment, the best option appears to be buying a used Honda Civic 1.3i, (not my car of choice), of which there are a number available ranging from 5,500 to 7,000 for a 2003/2004 model. I understand that this car is on the so called 'powershift register' and therefore qualifies for exemption. I have also considered buying a nearly new Peugeot 207, also on the register and very much my car of choice and converting it to LPG - although this would cost between 8/9 grand. As I drive in and out of the City of London daily, I am prepared to compromise with the Honda as it will save me a couple of grand per year. Is there anything else I need to be aware of before buying a Honda in the next couple of days?
