Re: Cheque back through Carphone Warehouse

tuggy:hi saarah, this e2save is just a small retail unit. to the best of my knowledge it just orders your phones & sorts your contracts thats all.i live in loughborough & my neighbor works there. looks like they are givin ya the run around! best of luck tuggy

Are you kidding? E2Save is owned by Car Phone Warehouse. It may behave like it's small, but it's parent company isn't small.

It's like saying "I bought my phone at Car Phone Warehouse in Liverpool, it's quite a small outfit, only 10 or so people work in the shop there......"

People express a preferance for buying from these places because they are larger than other places that offer cashback offers. The theory goes that if they are small, they are more likely to go bust and you won't see your cashback, so by buying from a larger company you are more likely to see the cashback.

Re: Cheque back through Carphone Warehouse

The most effective way to deal with this problem is to issue proceedings at you local county court through the small claims procedure it is very easy to fill in the form and costs approx £30.If the case goes the full distance then it is heard at the court where you isssue and that means that cp will have to attend the court. If everyone who is unable to get a satisfactory outcome to their claim did this they would have to employ a number of legally capable people who would be full time travelling to courts throught the uk.If they don't defend then you will get a judgement by default and will be able to enforce payment

Re: Cheque back through Carphone Warehouse

I lost on 2 contracts with e2save. One of the guys i know working for CPW had said that e2save were intentinally not paying out. But now that the american company had taken over CPW -bestbuy , CPW would honour their cashbacks. But having read all the comments above, i thought CPW were better than e2save ! My first 6 monthly bill is going to be posted tomorrow. i was told to just send in the bills as no cashback coupons are necessary. Is this true ? Also if you can throw some light on how to take CPW to court -- i.e. the forms and basically procedure involved that would be great. What about contacting the Telecom Ombudsman ? -- funny enough CPW are not their members. But would we get help here ? Also if all the people reading here wrote to BBC watch dog , than that would put CPW in line. What do all of you think?

Re: Cheque back through Carphone Warehouse

I don't know about the take over, but this last year I had with E2Save/CPW they only took a bit of prompting on one of the cashbacks. The last one.

I used a sales call they gave me to my advantage when they called me up to say they could sort me out a better contract, approx. transcript below:

O: "Hi, this is E2Save, your phone contract has just run out, we can get you a better one cheaper."

    A: "That's brilliant, Where's my cashback?"

O: "That's handled by a different department, we can give you a really good deal for your loyalty."

A: "I'm sure you can, matey, but first you go away and talk to that different department, then when I get my £96 you owe me, we'll talk like friends, until then, you're just someone who owes me £96 and I've told friends to F--- -FF for a fiver they won't give me back, so how do you think you're getting any loyalty from me?"

O: "Thank you for your time, I'll call you back in a week shall I?"

A: "Make it two weeks, just to be sure the cheque clears first....."

Re: Cheque back through Carphone Warehouse

I have posted on this site previously about Carphone Warehouse cashback. My contract was taken out in 2005 with a £270 cashback. Despite several attempts by phone and letter nothing happened........until surprisingly today 11th April 2009, almost 4 years later a cheque arrived by post. This past few months I have been telephoning them on the same day of each month and as I was determined not to give up I think I finally managed to receive this as a means of getting rid of me. So to all others out there in the same position as me keep ringing, get name of person speaking to and keep going back to the same person. It has worked for me so hope it does the same for you

Re: Cheque back through Carphone Warehouse

I took a contract out in August 2008 and have been battling since arch 2009 to get my cheque back. They claimed they had lost my documentation dispite having acknowledged receipt of my recorded letter! This haped on two occasions. I called into branches and got a different story every time. Recently, a manager claimed it was dispatched on 22nd June and would be with me in 30 days, however this is the same story I am fed every time I call them. If anyon else is experiencing this do as I have - log it with BBC Watchdog!! Their head office telephone numbers are like gold dust to them and can't be obtained (or so they tell you). Check in Google for cpwh.com email addressess - they try to give you these but get characters deliberately incorrect to stop this. I lucklily found Charles Dunstone's personal email details on google and as the Chief Executice of the company pestered him within the last couple of days. Charles has assured me that he has now taken this on board and has someone looking into it for a resolution. He was very apologetic. If they cannot get such a simple system correct, what hope do they have! The cheques themselves are apparantely issued from Portugal, yet these convenienntly never arrive. Is this a plow to sit on our money for the interest? Is this a ploy to make more money from 0845 numbers?? If you google details you can o straight to the horses mouth like I did. their head office can be contacted directly on 02088965000. It is not in Southampton like they inform you but in London. I wait in anticipation no for a swift, non problematic resolution within the next few days as it should be therefore will recommend anyone to follow my lead. Let us see if Watchdog take this on board. If more people email watchdog AT bbc.co.uk, maybe the CPWH will get the general idea. Good luck to all.......
