I went to reply to an obvious scammer who replied to the last post.  This person was trying to offer a new cashback deal and left e-mail details, etc.. What a cheek, these people are even trying to sell phones to us that have already been conned, they have balls!  DO NOT BE REELED IN BY THESE SCAMMERS!  No cashback deal is honoured.

    Hi Andy P

Wondered how you had got on with your claim? Was everything resolved and did you get your cashback?

I have nearly completed a 12 month contract with E2 Save and have not had any problems but my husband is having difficulties and they are telling him he sent the wrong bill and now frfeits all rights to any further cahsback months. This was his first month of claiming.

    Thanks

    Hi,

I've had no problems with my cashbacks this year. Best piece of advice I got was to make sure the letter with your invoice is sent by recorded post each time as proof of sending. CPW have been pretty good, a few days later, I would get a text to say they had received it and a cheque follows a few weeks later.

Re: Cheque back through Carphone Warehouse

    Hi

Yes this was the case for our first contract and it seemed to run so smoothly. Bills have always been sent by recorded delivery.

You would think we knew what we were doing wouldn't you?

This is the second contract we have had. Just like before, the bill was sent in the required time by recorded delivery. They state that they sent a letter 8th November telling us why our claim was invalid. This was never received. We sent a complaint letter by recorded delivery and asked for a copy of the letter and they haven't even bothered to reply.

We know we sent the bill in the required timescales and it was sent by recorded delivery- be warned- dont be lulled into a false sense of security and like us take out a second contract!

The Office of Fair Trading is now involved. If it comes to it, we will take them to the small claims courts.

Re: Cheque back through Carphone Warehouse

    What can I do?

I had two accounts on ORANGE network with e2Save, both on 12 month cashback.

I have since terminated the contract with Orange, but I've received all but month 10 cashback on my phone.

I've had almost every excuse given to me:

e2Save said on first call: the T&C say if you haven't heard back within 45 days, give them a call to find out what has happened.
-(n.b. doesn't this in conjunction with their "Applications to be received within 30 days of airtime bill" mean if anything has gone wrong then they won't help you correct it?)

e2Save then said on 2nd call: the bills for my wife's phone were accepted, despite being identical to my applications.

e2Save then said on 3rd call: I was told when I called up "There was an error in the system, we'll cancel both cheques and send out again, the one which has been cashed won't cancel, so we'll get the correct cheque to you, you don't need to do anything".
    - I waited two weeks before calling up and being given another excuse: "We've not been able to find your application, therefore you need to fax it through again, I'll see to it personally that you get your chequeback." ('Paul'). when I said I'd sent the original off already, they said "just send the September OR October bill, it doesn't matter in this situation".

I called back and e2Save then said:
"Paul hasn't received the fax. Did you put FAO Paul at the top?" - I resent the fax FAO PAUL.

e2Save then said on eighth call: twice or three times that Paul was not at his desk and couldn't therefore comment.

I was finally told by Paul "This is the September Bill, You need to send the October Bill".

I complained and asked to speak to a manager.

e2Save then said: "We've generated a Cheque on your other account, is that OK?" - This was my month twelve cheque for my wife's account (the one for my account was to be sent back - dated 1st November, received 28th November, with a letter telling me I'd failed to apply within the 28 days required, so E2Save would not honor their contract with me. Ironic that they received the post on the 27th of November and claim it has taken more than 28 days, when they stamp the bills a day or so before they actually reach their customers).

I then faxed EVERY bill through to them with claim letters for both month 12 and month 10 (£126 total cashback owed).

I was then told "Your recorded delivery slip says it was never delivered, take it up with the post office". I asked to speak to a manager. Phone goes quiet for two minutes, girl comes back and says "I just spoke to the manager on your behalf, he tells you to take it up with the post office." I told them they were behaving unreasonably, the smart-a$$ girl then says "Would you like us to ring the Post Office on your behalf?" I agreed, she then hang up on me and call diverts to the post office, giving me the information I already had.

POST OFFICE WON'T ACKNOWLEDGE I'M £63.00 out of pocket because they failed to deliver a recorded deliver letter. They sent me a Book of Stamps "to show goodwill", that just about cover the cost of posting a letter recorded delivery.

Orange also offered to write to e2save on my behalf but then Orange withdrew their support saying: "We supply a service, if you are tricked into signing up by unscrupulous dealers you must take it up with them, we have nothing to do with the people who are tricked into signing up to our network by these people."

    WHAT SHOULD I DO??????

    -Andy,

Official hater of CarPhone Whrehouse and e2Save. (and to a lesser extent Orange and the Post Office)

Re: Cheque back through Carphone Warehouse

    Hi Carrie

The best advice is as follows:

    1. Keep as much original paperwork filed as possible - you may need to refer to this during the claim period

    2. Make sure you claim on time

    3. Send all claims via recorded mail - they cannot then say that they did not receive your paperwork

    4. If you have any problems keep on their back and do not let the retailer fob you off

    5. Worse case scenario - threaten to pursue through legal process. This should not be necessary with Carphone - but there have been issues raised about all mobile retailers - not everybody always gets their money - this is totally unacceptable....

    hope this helps

    regards

Re: Cheque back through Carphone Warehouse

    Update:

As luck would have it, in the twenty four hours since my last post, they DID send the cheque through. I still think the last post by myself should stand as evidence they try everything to get out of paying, and was a massive inconvenience, possibly not worth the hassle for £62.25, I might just get our family on a PAYG scheme when our next contract runs out.

It's just a matter of all the time I've wasted on the 0845 number to them and the amount they annoyed me.

I now relegate e2save and carphonewarehouse to companies I'm not that happy with, rather than companies I hate!

Also, send it within two days of receiving the bill and check on the royalmail website (add dot com) and then if it doesn't show as delivered within the first seven days, send it again.

My hassles were caused by the recorded delivery not being delivered and then the royal mail (who compensate up to the value of £28 for non-valuable, non-currency, non-"Consequential Loss" items) refused to pay even the £28 of the £62.25 that I lost because they could not be bothered delivering it at all.

Makes me wonder why I bother sending recorded delivery.

Re: Cheque back through Carphone Warehouse

    Springfield,

Be very careful, the network is a seperate entity to the reseller, and so you have two sets of agreements, by cancelling direct debits to the network, you face proceedings by the network, not CPW.

I used Orange in my case to try and leverage CPW into doing something, and they very dissapointingly chose not to get involved, but I always honoured my agreement with the network, as they had not done anything (directly) wrong.

Networks will always come back with standard answers of "We don't endorse any cashback schemes and advise people not to partake because of this," yet they don't take proactive steps like refusing to connect anyone sold such a scheme through CPW/E2Save/OSPS.

Just be aware and contact your phone network to re-enstate the DD, otherwise you'll be fighting a war on two fronts, not just concentrating your attention on mischievious CPW.

Re: Cheque back through Carphone Warehouse

As to me, with the CPW, As I was reaching the end of my 11th month with the belief that CPW were going to pay up on the agreement (which they eventually did, but only after too much hassle for my liking) I signed up for another cashback deal. I did this as I thought they were going to pay easier on the missing cheque back, but now I'm with them and know the pitfalls of old, I think I'll have an open mind.

If they behave themselves, I may well go with them again, if they misbehave, then I'm going with PAYG.

I'm quite happy with my K750i, I'd go as far as to say it's the best phone I've had, not overpacked with tech, not understated, just right. Happily keep slapping a new sim in it if needs be!
