    Re: phoneboxdirect.com the real nightmare

    Hi All,

I have the same problem. I started my contract in October 2006 and to date have had only one payment. I got this eventually, by ringing up every day and showing them proof of the recorded delivery, they said did not arrive. These cash back schemes from third parties are nopt worth the hassel and seem to try any scam they can not to pay you. I will also write to Phonebox direct today and O2 with a 14 day deadline and hope they will respond. I rang a week ago, to find out where my second payment was, and was told that there is a backlog of payments and all new customers are being told that there is a 30 day delay. I think that they will drag the payments to the end of the contract and then hope you will forget it.

    Best of luck.

    Re: phoneboxdirect.com the real nightmare

The Daily Express is looking for someone, who has bought their mobile phone through moneysupermarket.com, to be a case study.

The suitable candidate must be willing to speak to, and be photographed by, a journalist.

Please note that we cannot accept anyone who has been published before, but, if you are successful, you will receive £100 worth of high street vouchers.

Do you fit, or do you know anyone that fits, this scenario? If so, please email Kimberley.Southern @ moneysupermarket.com.

    Kind Regards

Re: Cheque back through Carphone Warehouse

Just thought I'd let you know about my cashback experiences, Ive had 2 previosuly, one with E2Save and one with Dialaphone - both of these were where I had to send off 4th, 8th 12th bills etc and I received all cheque backs withingabout 2 weeks of sending them off - brilliant !!  Then I moved onto Carphone Warehouse, where I was offered an even better deal - I dont even have to send any bills off - its called automatic cashback and monies are automatically paid into my bank account after month 4 and month 10 ! Sounds too good to be true dont it !! Well it is !! Or at least it seemed to be. My first cashback was due on 3rd March, and Ive made shed loads of phone calls since then to find out why I havent received it, each time I'm told its a "failed" auto cashback and that they need to manually apply for the cashback, which they duly (apparently!) do while I'm on the phone, but that it will take 28 days to go through., I then ring back a week later just to make sure its going through - and hey - guess what - although someone previously said they were filling them in - they never actually did - so whole cycle starts again !! Anyway, got fed up of waiting and eventually (thanks to advice from internet forums) e-mailed Charles Dunstone direct, to tell him they had 14 days etc etc . I got a  response the very next morning, saying they were looking into it and someone would contact me. Got a phone call that night from the same people I'd been dealing with myself at the crappy customer services, just telling me outright that my cashback would be put back into my bank account that day, and should be with me 5-7 days !! I assume this is because I'd emailed Mr Dunstone and someone there really had chased it up !! But now I'm not sure cos Mr Dunstones office have just rung me to tell me that as a goodwill gesture they will be paying both lots of my cashback now, rather than me having to wait until September for the second lot, its £105 a time I'm due so looks like I should get £210 all in one go!! I'll have to wait and see if it actually materialises but I'm so glad I went direct to the CEO ! It works !! Have to say though - that I'll never use CPW again - or recommend them to anyone !!

Re: Cheque back through Carphone Warehouse

Hi, i've been having the same problem with my cash-backs, im in my 10 month of my 12 month contract with e2.save and i still haven't received my first cash-back, but they are prepared to pay the second one. i've just finished writing a letter and have threated them with legal action if they do not pay me my money within 14 days, but i've been given 2 addresses to send my complaint to, does someone know the correct address?:

    1)   E2save department, E2save.com, 3R House, Belton Road, Loughborough, Leicestershire, LE11 5XH

    2)   E2save customer services, 3R House, Belton Road West Extension, Belton Road  Trading estate, Loughborough, LE11 5XH

also loads of people seem to mention Charles Dunstone, and it seems he's able to solve their problems very quickly, can anyone give me an address/tel/e-mail so i can contact him?, thanks very much

Re: Cheque back through Carphone Warehouse

I have similar problem with cash back.Up to now they only paid me the 2nd cash back and still owe me £39.my contract finished last mth.But I wont give up.What annoy me as a customer is we are only be given 1 mth period to claim from the due.If we miss it then we wont be able to claim our cash back. But It takes them months to release the cash back and what the punishment to them for release it late??? nothing. It should have been equal. They should have beem fined or add some interest on our cash back if they do not release the cash back withing 1 month.

This cash back matter should have been brought to trading standard and they should have set the rule that the cash back should have been release automatically. This is just a scam. Its a way for this big company to earn more money.Because they know that there probably around 50% only people claim the cash back. The others 50% might forget about it,not bother with the hassle,or miss it.

Re: Cheque back through Carphone Warehouse

I have the right paperwork and it did arrive.Because 2 weeks after sent my claim I phoned them and they conformed that they have received my paperwork. But after that It took 2 months for them to release the cheque.

We should get extra as an interest or something as because they were late to release the cheque.its just like us as a customer we get nothing when we send the paperwork late.

Re: Cheque back through Carphone Warehouse

I was very critical of Carphone three months ago, when they were several weeks late with my £70 chequeback. This time, it has been very different. A text within a few days of posting my claim to say it had been received.A text a couple of weeks later to say the claim had been approved, and then the cheque about 3 weeks after posting the claim.Thank you Carphone Warehouse, I am sure I will be a long term customer.

Re: Cheque back through Carphone Warehouse

Since I complained that others hadn't got back to you forum peeps with updates, I felt it necessary not to become a hypocrite and update you of my own experience.

I wrote 4 months ago about how I had written letters to both CEOs of E2SAVE and Carphone Warehouse asking for them to rectify this Chequeback/Cashback missing payment. After 4 months of getting nowhere, I gave them 14 days to send me a cheque with some sort of compensation for my phonecalls and letters or I would see them in Small Claims Court. That deadline passed so I started court proceedings.

About 2 weeks after the deadline, I recieved a cheque for the basic amount which I sent back with a letter explaining that since no compensation or court costs were included, this was unacceptable. The court acknowledged my claim and surprisingly a defence was filed by solicitors representing E2SAVE. I decided to check with some people I know in the legal profession who looked over the case and advised me that my case seemed watertight and that E2SAVE would settle out of court. The court then notified me that the defence had requested and been granted a 28 day extension to settle this matter. They did nothing to contact me in this period and therefore I have been advised that as soon as the judge sets a date, the case is mine to lose. E2SAVE cannot win this: they failed to deliver part of the contract - it is not a free gift and not referred to as such in my contract or the newspaper/internet adverts; they are guilty of misrepresentation if they do not pay up; and most importantly in my case now, they have failed to acknowledge myself or the court and did not use the 28 day extension for anything productive. My advisors believe that as long as I turn up, I will win hands down. They say that E2SAVE think I will bottle it and not turn up and therefore I am/have wasted the courts time too. I will only get the basic amount but have to pay my own costs if I don't follow through.

The moral of my story is complain, complain and complain. Don't give up. As long as you have made a correct application and proceeded with your complaint in a timely and careful manner, E2SAVE will have to settle.

I will update you with the final outcome soon.

Re: Cheque back through Carphone Warehouse

just want to say that i have received my fourth and final cashback from carphone warehouse. it's the end of the contract and now i've got another one with them, also with cashback. i never had any trouble at all, i sent in the forms with the photocopies of the bill, informed them when i changed my address. there were never any delays or any problems of any kind. not denying anybody else's experience but just want to put forward my own.

Re: Cheque back through Carphone Warehouse

I can now give you the final outcome in my endeavours as I never have to deal with this bunch of reprebates again. I won my court case as they did not turn up - as predicted - and they did not file any sort of defence at all. They knew they would lose but hoped that I would not want to go to court and therefore the judge would be annoyed at both parties and throw it out. I turned up, I won wholeheartedly.

Follow the correct procedures with complaining - phone call, letters, CEO contact, court proceeding - and you will win against them. As Watchdog on the BBC found out -: 'they went for the cashback deals because they know that most customers won't follow it up properly or do so in time'. Keep pestering them and you will come out with your money plus compensation.

It's about time Ofcom and Watchdog nailed Charles Dunston properly for trying to con/fool his customers with false promises, shoddy customer service and delay tactics.

    Customer 1 Dunston 0

(let's add to this tally people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Re: Cheque back through Carphone Warehouse

Well Done Kappo2007, it was good to read that you stuck it out and beat them.

Charles Dunstone of Carphone Warehouse, boasts on their website how reliable their cashback system is but we know the truth. After my experience dealing with them I would never use cashback again.

When I had problems with my second cashback I complained to the High Level Complaints department and was impressed by the fact that I received compensation because I had to wait so long for my cheque. I mentioned to them that it took so long to get the second cashback payment that it would get mixed up with the third. I was right because I never received the third payment.

I wrote to High Level Complaints twice and did not get a reply. Finally I threatened them with Watchdog, The Ferret and the Small Claims County Court but I still received no reply. It was summer-time and the consumer programs were off air and due to the fact I had not used registered post, I regretfully gave up the fight. I am glad you finally succeeded.

Re: Cheque back through Carphone Warehouse

I have a phone through carphone warehouse and got my first cashback - no problem. They do like to confuse customers by giving two different addresses to send the CLAIM form to. Make sure that the address you are sending to for your offer is correct. Carphone warehouse are really good as they will allow you to manage your account on line and get Bills off your account on the WEB - they will even accept photocopies of these bills.

Onestopphoneshop from who I have ordered 2 phones do not accept Bills downloaded from your online account, nor do they accept photo copies. They expect the bill to have your name and address printed on it. No problem so far. However if you have ordered two phones then your Service provider - example Orange will only send you one bill for both phones. Onestopphone shop expects you to only send one claim per envelope which means you are stuffed due to the unfair terms (impossible terms). You may be able to get a second copy of your bill from Orange but that will cost you £3.

Again with Onestopphoneshop they like to give you misleading information - two different addresses to send the Claim form to, 2 different Claim forms, 2 different list of times to send your claim form. They will even go as far as stating two different offers on the letter "Your Offer Explained" example they will say redemption in 4 parts of £105 and latter in the same letter say Bills sent to Car' warehouse 5 part redemption over 12 months.

The trick is to work out which one is correct - call them and ask. Call them more than once just to be sure you are given the correct information. If you are determined then you should get your cashback and unfortunately this works out very expensive for onestopphoneshop who have to answer more e-mails and phonecall queries from the determined customer who has been pulled in by the attractive offers.

I did not want a mobile but they kept sending me the offers in the end I took a bite for two phones and and I will not let go until I get what I was promised! ;-)

Re: Cheque back through Carphone Warehouse

    Hi

Sorry to hear about your problems with carphone warehouse - e2save, just to let you know when you apply for a chequeback they "ADVISE" you to send it RECORDED DELIVERY and if you then choose to just sendit ordinary mail IT IS IMMEDIATLEY SHREDDED along with all the other items they don't want anyone to find. This is by admission from an ex employee and confirmed by many people who have emailed me to complain and it appears that NONE of the people who didnt get their money send the claim in RECORDED..... SHAME ON CARPHONE WAREHOUSE to resort to such a low level trick to mislead/cheat customers - this corporate fraud must make them millions - I have taken up the matter with watchdog

In the meantime please email your carphone warehouse / e2save problems regarding their unfair practises to me at XXXXX Moderator - email removed in line with MS terms of service.     I am compiling complaints for watchdog.

    Many thanks

    Tim Court
