Try www.ecarinsurance.com this site provide me the cheapest short term cover so far. 28 days for less than £100 where other site quoted for over £150, depending on type of car you want to insure of course. But let us know if you have found other cheaper site. Good luck!

Whose car is he going to be driving? If it is yours than it would probably be better to add him as a named driver to your policy. If it is someone else's then maybe to theirs.

If it is his own car then is it not insured even for theft purposes?

Sorry, just a little confused. Probably still from 2 days ago!

If you google for "temporary car insurance" you will find lots of people who claim to specialise in this area. Please come back if you find a cheap one though as it is a question that comes up quite often on these boards.

Your existing insurer can add a named driver to the policy but they will either do it for 12 months or they will charge you a lot for adding him then taking him off the policy.

cheap temporary insurance for a learner driver

All the quotes I get are for a 12 months period. Does anyone know of cheap insurance for a period of 8 weeks while my 18 year old son learns to drive in the summer holidays? Are there any insurers who speacialise in this area? Many thanks
