    Re: changing suppliers

You will not be double billed. The situation is as follows.

At the moment you have moved into a new property which is currently being billed by npower.

You correctly gave them your meter readings on the day you moved in.

You have also applied to have the energy taken over by another supplier.

There is a 2 week cooling off period required by law then your new supplier will apply to npower to take over the supply from them.

This may take in total 4/5 weeks altogether.

On changeover day you will be required to give new readings to your new supplier who will then bill you for what you use from that time.

    Hope this is clear.

    changing suppliers

i have just moved in to a property today and thought that i would get all the worries of bill paying for stuff out the way. so i went in search of cheaper gas and electric via internet. I found a cheaper supplier and applied online... which asked for my current reading from the meter which i gave. i rung them to see if i needed to change over the account to my name so that they could apply for it. they said yes and therefore rung n power.

spoke to an advisor who first of all asked what i wanted to do and still couldnt grasp the fact that i was a new tennant and wanted to switch from n power. after making the comment of "what you moved in today " (like that wasnt possible) and asking all the relevant details she proceeded to ask me for the meter reading which i gave.

Thinking while i was on the phone i asked i dont want to be billed for the use of the gas and electric from you though. (ihave given both companies the same meter reading). she said that i will be billed for a further 28 days!!!! i dont want 28 days of n power rates when i can after 14 days have a lower rate which they are billing from the start reading also!!!

Can anyone shed any light on the double billing situation?? or had any experience in this part of the field and offer some advice in what to do now?
