Just want to say thank you! I will have a look at those companies you mentioned.  Now if only your expert would help me with the mobile connections fiasco...!

    greeneyes,

It is entirely up to you but, like you have already said, how often will you need to speak to the provider?

If customer service is important to you then Scottish & Southern brands such as Atlantic score very highly.

If you are looking for a product that is going to be competitively priced with British Gas then you may want to consider Scottish Power's Online Energy Saver 4.

Also, although Ofgem have announced that the 28-day rule no longer applies, energy providers are yet to install the expected long-term contracts. Therefore, if you go with British Gas but are not happy with their customer service, you can easily change to a different provider at a later date.

If you would like some guidance on this, please speak to one of our Customer Service Team on 0845 345 1296.

I don't know but we don't have any problem with British Gas as well as British Electric.

    Re: Changing electricity supplier

British Gas is worse than bad - we have been with them for years but they sent threatening letters over a gas bill which they said was unpaid but we never received. Writing to their customer services is a waste of time - they dont reply. Some friends have also been threatened despite paying by direct debit - and BG have already taken their money.

AVOID at all costs or you will be sorry one day! Bullying companies like this dont deserve any customers.

    Changing electricity supplier

At the moment i get electricity from powergen but they have massively increased my bill over time.  On all the comparison websites British Gas comes out cheaper however customer rating always scores badly.  Considering i very rarely communicate with my current supplier do you think its worth the risk or is British Gas THAT bad?  Any advice?
