    CCCS & non-UK citizens?

    Hey folk

So, the usual story: up the proverbial creek without a paddle so to speak. Through my own financial ineptitude I've engineered myself into a corner, with some £35 000 debt over a personal loan and 3 Credit cards. I took a 12 month mortgage payment holiday which ends at the end of December, the idea being that I paid off some of the debt using the monthly mortgage payments.

In practice that never worked though, as we had all the major electrical appliances fail, bar the fridge and the freezer, which are now probably going to break tomorrow, as well as needing to pay for a few rather substantial home maintenance things, so its not all gone to plan.

Anyway, so, I decided to go to the CCCS website to get a DMP setup, and it all seems to have failed at the first hurdle. I have German Citizenship, but have lived in the UK for the past 8 years. I never bothered to get UK citizenship, as it would cost some £800 and there was no clear benefit really. But if I'm not a UK citizen they won't help!

I'm not at all impressed really. I'll probably call them and chat to them about it, but if they genuinely can't help me, is there any one else I can go to for a DMP?

    Thanks

I would have thought as an EU citizen you would have qualified for help in any case. ? However, there is also the National debtline, along with your local citizens advice below.... both offer free advice & assistance in the event your request is suprisingly denied by CCCS.

Yeah, I'll start calling around as soon as I can and find out what the story is.

Thanks for the quick reply. BTW, is there a thread somewhere about whether to use someone like payplan vs cccs?

    Thanks

There's a link to the search result on a few threads people have posted after using Payplan and their comments.

    Nearly forgot about them. !
