sounds like reliable collections and if it is, this is normal, and they have stopped the int for you.

Good luck to you, nice to see you are taking the bull by the horns! I hope they will remove it for you but keep the arangement in place.

If they don't remove the charge don't be too upset! If they are not putting on any further interest then I still think you have a bargin! Think of it as... "interest" on your total balance.

If I could find credit for that amount and only pay £100 interest then I would grab it with both my hands and my feet!!!!

    Good luck to you.

I can afford the £70.00 I orignally offered them £100 but they said they would set it up for £70 which works out better for me in the end.

I am going to write to them re the arrangement fee and ask them to remove that as I didn't agree to it.

    dear moosegirl,

sorry to hear about your troubles however do not worry. Simply send the catalogue a financial statement ie what you have coming in and what going out offer a realistic repayment that YOU can afford not one that they force you to have be insistent that this is what you can afford and will continue to review your financial position, and if it improves in the future you will be happy to increase the offer. Also advise them as you did not agree to an arrangement fee you will not be able to pay the additional £100. You will find that the creditors who should the loudest have the least power, ie if they decided to take you to court (which they wont as you are offering to pay what You can afford) the court would only look at your financial statement and award an affordable repayment to the creditors. hope this helps and do not budge from what you can realistically afford even if its less than £70 good luck

Catalogue Debt, Arrangment Agreed - Hidden Charged Not Told About

I have just agreed a repayment plan for a catalogue company I am in debt with to the sum of £1700. I have agreed £70 per month and they have freezed the interest. The only charges made on the account now will be if I miss a payment which I don’t plan on doing.

I got confirmation in the post of the new arrangement and at the bottom of the letter it tells me they have made a one of charge of 10% of the balance of the account to a maximum of £100 to set up the arrangement.

I feel this is extremely unfair since they didn’t advise me of this on the phone and I can’t see what was hard to arrange since I was on the phone less than five minutes to set up the arrangement.

I will have been charged £100 which is obviously going to put my balance up even more and I am already struggling to clear it in the first place.

Where do I stand on this since surely they should have told me about adding this £100 charge over the phone before I agreed to setting up an affordable arrangement that was in my means.
