    Carphone Warehouse Cheque-Back dispute

    Hi,

I was wondering if anybody can point me in the right direction on this.

I upgraded my existing Carphone Warehouse (using O2 network) contract in Aug 2008 to the following deal:

18 months contract for £45 line rental, with 1200 minutes, 500 text, unlimted l/line bolt on, Sony Ericsson C902, with £600 cheque back split into 3 six monthly payments.

It sounded good, as this worked out for the line rental costing £11.66 over the 18 months - after the chequebacks were paid

Now Carphone Warehouse have said that the chequeback is not valid (as I received a handset). They said it would be chequeback or handset. I have escalated this, but aside from speaking to unhelpful advisors, and incoherent IVRS, have come to no resolution. I have even requested for the orginal call to be played back, to which the CPW have said they do not have a copy of. The 2nd call to them apparantly has me agreeing to the deal but ending the conversation before the advisor finished the upgrade. They later claimed that he was new to the company and should have clarified the deal. A call back to me would have also cleared up any confusion.

I have written a deadlock letter to them (and sent via email), only for them to now say that they are willing to offer a £200 credit to my account as a gesture of goodwill. I find this unacceptable and a cop-out from the CPW. In my opinion, they should have clarifed the upgrade deal, and if I ended the call, should have call back before upgrading me.

Should I accept this or keeping pursuing my right to the £600 cheque-back? So far I have felt very let down by the CPW and would never recommend the company to anybody I know. I just wished I had followed my instinct in disconnecting in Aug 2008 and not being seduced by fake this offer of £600 cheque-back.

I would love to either receive £600 cheque-back - as orignally agreed, or terminate my contract with them with cheque-backs paid up to today's.

Is there anything I can do?

    Thanks in advance, Sunil
