    This protection if needed is often much more expensive if taken through the actual card issuer, if you require it for peace of mind (sorry can't advise on that bit).

    You can often find payment protection much cheaper from independent providers. Take a look at the link below, it has a detailed Five page PPI / IPI informative explanation guide with a separate comparison function... that allows you to obtain alternative quotes.

    i have a few credit cards and i have payment protection on them all. These costs loads a month on each of them. I have noticed that by the time i've made a payment what with the interest and the payment protection the balance hardly goes down. Some times it's by a couple of pounds. my husband and i have talked about cancelling the protection so we can get the balance down quicker. my husband has had to change job's and is earning a quarter of what he was so we are trying to cut back as much as as we can. what would be your advise to us
