Re: Car reg'd Copied - or is it a glitch? - advice needed asap please.

    i see.

Calling the DVLA, would they be able to provide me with the correct VIN, so when i do go and view it, it comes back as correct?

One thing i have always started to do now and has saved me considerable amount of money is the service that mycarcheck.com provides, shows the milage, last mot, owners etc... i would of done this in a flash, BUT what i don't want to happen is for this to provide the wrong information from the wrong car (With there being the choice of two). The deciding factor on any car i buy will have to pass this stage anyway :(

After looking at it, no car has a registered model of 1997-1997 so this is leading me to believe this is just a glitch, or a mess up, BUT, it's not something i can risk my money on.

I'm thinking of just cutting my losses and looking for something different, despite how good the insurance quote is + saving the time and hassle

For a ford Fiesta under the age of the 02 plate, where are the places of VIN? i realise that there is/could be a one on the window, but i've heard there are also other hidden places where you can check.

I don't suppose anyone knows where these places are? Preferably on any car. Because if, for some reason, i do decide to go for it i know where to look without having him mislead me and take advantage of the sale.

Thanks for the quick response Huckster.

Stay clear unless you can check all the various places where the vin no. will be shown on the car. If it looks like any of the numbers have been tampered with, don't touch with a barge poll.

For that age of car, I would doubt it would be a cut and shut or anything dodgy that has recently been done. It might just be that due to the cars age, that it is not shown clearly on the database as to the year of manufacture.

I believe that you can also make enquiries with DVLA using the vin no. and they may be able to confirm the ownership details.

Car reg'd Copied - or is it a glitch? - advice needed asap please.

    Good afternoon everyone,

I've just ran into a problem. Searched Autotrader last night for a car which me an my other half like, and today i phoned up to get their registration (Which was blocked out on the photo)... only now i think i know why.

I Don't know what to do, because when i put it's reg in the search bar when looking for it's insurance... 2 cars come up, what does this mean?

i do the search and two fiesta's come up as..

    FORD FIESTA 2000 - 2002 Petrol 1.3L MANUAL 5 Doors FLIGHT

    FORD FIESTA 1997 - 1997 Petrol 1.3L MANUAL 5 Doors FLIGHT

I've searched for the correct insurance for a while now, and i've never seen this before and this is DEFINITELY ringing alarm bells in my head. Do i stay clear of this or is this just a glitch in the website? Now i don't even know which car it is or anything, or wether he's telling me the truth.

When i phoned him i did ask if the v5c is present with the car, which he replied "I have changed the reg to my wife's car as it had a private plate, so i'm still waiting for it from the DVLA to return it"

What does everyone think? steer clear? Blatant Fake Reg'ing or...?
