Re: CAR NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE?

    i will do that.

we have been to the garage this afternoon, and i have to admit that the sales manager was very nice about the whole thing, and did hint at us taking a similar car that they had on the forecourt, howver it isnt the colour i wanted, i also feel that to just swap the cars over would not be compensation enough for the hassle i am having and have had. there has been no mention of a hire car as yet. I am also slightly annoyed as i filled up the car the day before it went in the garage so it has a full tank of diesel and i potentially am not going to get to drive it again! very frustrating.

Phone Consumer Direct or your local Trading Standards tomorrow.

I think you could reject the car and ask for your money back. The finance company could help with this, if you had a problem, as they are party to the contract. I think that is probably what they should do really. Take the car back, provide you with a hire car for say a week and try to locate another car for you. I am not saying they are legally obliged to do this, but if I were a director of the garage who sold the car, I would want to rectify the situation.

But you would be better speaking to someone from CS or TS about your exact rights in these circumstances.

    CAR NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE?

    Hi

i bought a 59 plate vw golf end october from a very large and well known dealer on finance. After driving it for 2 days i found the clutch very hard and heavy. I took it back to where it was purchased, the garage there said it was fine, but as it was a ford garage and the car was VW they wouldnt be able to do anything to it anyway as still under warranty. I took it to local VW garage who had it for 9 days. Gearbox was stripped and some selectors replaced. i drove it and still felt it wasnt right. The garage then decided to fit a whole new clutch and flywheel.

2 days after getting the car back the coolant warning light came on on the dash, i topped it up thinking that maybe they just hadnt done this during the service the car had before i picked it up. 2 weeks later it came back on, and again i topped it up. 9 days later it came on again and i arranged for the car to go into the garage.

The garage called yesterday to tell me that there is a fault - quite a large pronbem (something to do also with exhaust and cooling system? - bf dealt with the call as i dont know much about cars) and it will take 7-10 days for the part to arrive and be fixed. In the meantime i have been told i wont be getting a courtesy car. i work out in the community and cannot do my job without my car , this is a huge inconvenience for me.

i am now wondering what else will be problematic on the car - it is after all only 2 years old with 28000miles and should not be having these kinds of problems, these arent just litlle niggly issues they are rather huge. I am looking into taking the car back as it is not a risk i want to take, i need a reliable vehicle. What rights do i have and what processes need to be done for me to return the car?

any help would be much appreciated!!
