Hi --- When you make a claim on motor insurance they do not usually refund any unused portion of your premium for the same year that the claim occurs, this applies also if you do not replace your car....they just keep the whole premium...no refund. !.

You will find at renewal in April 09 that any adjustments to your lower group car will be made then, taking into account your lost portion of no claims entitlement also.

Hi, I made a claim after a bump (my fault)..........Bought a new car 5 groups less!! Payments went down with being lower group!! Insurance not due for renewal till April 09.....Now been told insurance want money from me as underwriter does not want my payments reduced because of claim!! and put my payments back to what they were, Is this normal? I understand it goes up with a claim but thought it would be next year.......and not the way they have done it......
