Re: Car insurance for young drivers

I think some of the "Open Policies" from Norwich Union some of the people referred to in the old thread are their fleet policies eg Mini Fleet and Fleet Wise. These did give any driver of any age and it was common for company owners to add their childrens cars as it worked out at about £500 a year for a "normal" car. I know of some company owners who added junior members of staffs cars on to their policy.

Norwich Union have cottoned on to this as they were inevitably getting lots of claims from young drivers, they now normally restrict cover to anyone aged 22 and over. If there are any drivers under 21 they want them to be declared and they charge a more appropriate premium.

Re: Car insurance for young drivers

The last reply about Norwich Union and their Open Policy was nearly a year ago and insurance generally for young drivers has changed significantly over the period. Google search Open Policy from Norwich Union the only real reference is this forum thread and a few oblique comments which say that Open Policy is excluded from quoting software used by brokers.

I had doubts that it was as the Norwich Union personnel made out and I was not convinced that they really understood what they were saying, nor that they should have been making such comments in an open forum.

I wish you luck but it will be a challenge to get a decent quote on the car specified with your age and experience. From what I can see Open Policy from Norwich Union seems to have disappeared, but would be interested to hear from anyone who knows otherwise.
