I'll try Aviva and see if the are able to arrange cover. Thankyou!

clairek78:Yes that's a good point. However, should I wish to sell the car in the future (after having changed the ownership to my father and back) it won't look good for the car to have a 3 person ownership history. But are there any other options?

Why would you transfer ownership back to you before you sold it? Your dad could sell it and transfer the money to your account. This could be handy if any time you chose not to return to the UK.

See other thread http://www.moneysupermarket.com/community/forums/post/car-insurance-for-nonresidents-162896.aspx in which Dacouch advise that Aviva can arrange cover for non residents. You would need to phone them or go through a broker.

Re: Car insurance for non UK residents with UK driving license

clairek78:Can anyone offer some advice for car insurance companies that offer policies to non-UK residents who hold UK driving licences? Does anyone know of any companies that allow that? The car currently resides at my parents house in the UK and my father needs to also be added to the policy but my husband & I need to be able to drive it when we are back in the UK. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you thought about transfering ownership to your Dad. If he is registered as the owner/keeper with the DVLA and takes out Insurance, you could always be added as temporary additional drivers when you visited.
